Service Electric Supply
A Family Legacy Built on Service and Growth
For Eric Buszka, part owner and vice president of finance at Service Electric Supply, running a business isn’t just about selling electrical supplies—it’s about carrying on a family legacy and staying true to the company’s commitment to service. SES, the only wholesale electrical distributor in the ABC SEMI membership, has built its reputation on reliability, quality and a strong dedication to the trade.
Eric’s journey with SES began long before he officially took ownership. His father founded the company, and Eric joined in 1990. After college and three years working outside the family business, it was a call from his father’s business partner that brought him back— and since then, he has contributed greatly to SES’s growth alongside his business partner, Eric Braidwood. When his father retired as the sole owner, Braidwood and Buszka took over and have now been leading the company for 22 years and president and vice president respectively. Buszka mentioned how their two backgrounds, Braidwood’s in sales and a gift for connection, and his own in operations and HR, compliment each other and has been the key to their success.
Despite its growth, SES main tains a small-company feel with 67 employees who share a vision of entrepreneurship and dedication.
“We named ourselves ‘Service’ for a reason,” Eric explains. “We strive to have the most inventory on hand because you never know exactly what contractors will need and when, but also because we are all about making the industry smarter and supporting its growth.”
SES has always believed in evolving with the industry while staying true to its core values. As an independent distributor, customers rely on SES for tailored solutions and flexibility that large chains often can’t provide.
Recently, Eric introduced a succession plan to ensure the company’s continued success. He brought on two co-owners—Rich, a long-time SES employee of over 20 years, and Ramon, formerly a part-owner of a manufacturers’ rep agency. This transition sets up SES for future growth while maintaining its strong, family-oriented culture.
A key part of SES’s success is its people. Eric strongly believes in mentoring employees and fostering their growth, a belief reinforced by his education in business management with a minor in human relations.
“Employees help us make the company what it is,” he says. “We want to continue on this path and support them.”
This commitment extends beyond SES to the industry as a whole. Eric sees a growing need for skilled tradespeople, something that organizations like ABC are actively addressing through training programs. SES aligns closely with ABC’s mission and values, attending events and working to play a bigger role in supporting the trades.
With an eye on continued growth, SES remains focused on expanding its reach while keeping its family-business roots intact. The company participated in ABC/SEMCA’s career fair in the fall of 2024 to attract new talent, taking inspiration from industry leaders like Milwaukee Tool, which has successfully promoted trades careers.
“At the end of the day, we’re all about making the industry smarter and stronger,” Eric says. “Anywhere we can add service to construction, we’re always open to it.”
For SES, the future is about more than just business— it’s about continuing a legacy of service, mentorship and unwavering commitment to the trades.
